Spicy Meat Rub

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons chile powder or more I used a combination of New Mexican and regular, but Chipotle would be great as well
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 1/2 pounds flank steak sliced into 1/2" thick strips, about 5-6" long.


  • Soak skewers in cold water for at least 30 minutes.
  • Mix all the spices together. Toss to cover all steak pieces. Allow to sit on steak for 1 hour and up to 8 hours for more flavor.
  • Thread meat on skewers and grill over a medium high heat until medium rare, or desired doneness.
