Ingredients

Stir fry ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon peanut oil (or avocado oil)
  • 2 teaspoons minced peeled ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon minced fresh garlic
  • 12 ounces broccolini (or broccoli florets)
  • 1 pound sirloin steak thinly sliced across the grain
  • 1 bunches green onions cut into 2 inch pieces

Instructions

Stir fry sauce

  • Combine first 8 ingredients; soy sauce through salt in a small bowl stir with a whisk until smooth. Or place in a glass jar and shake until blended.

Stir fry

  • Wash and cut the broccolini into 1 to 1 1/2″ pieces, and slice green onion on the diagonal. I
  • Thinly slice meat against the grain.
  • Heat peanut or avocado oil in a wok or large skillet over medium high heat until smoking or when a drop of water sizzles in pan. 
  • Add ginger, garlic, and beef; sauté 2-3 minutes, or until beef is browned. Add broccolini; sauté 1-2 minutes.
  • Add sauce mixture and green onions, stirring constantly an additional 4-5 minutes, or until sauce is thickened, and broccolini is crisp tender.
  • If sauce gets too thick, add a splash of water or chicken broth.
  • Serve with rice noodles or rice.

Notes

  • ​Substitute coconut aminos or low sodium soy sauce for the regular soy sauce.
  • Make it spicier by adding more red chilli oil.
  • Substitute brown sugar, honey or coconut sugar for the white sugar.
  • Substitute flank steak, chicken breast or pork loin for the sirloin or skirt steak.
  • Add additional vegetables: bell peppers, snow peas, mushrooms, or thinly sliced yellow onions.
  • Garnish with a drizzle of sesame oil or sesame seeds.
