Weekend at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach

The Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach is a relaxing vacation or staycation getaway.

Having just returned from two weeks in Europe, I will be staying close to home for a while. I’ve planned some local “stay-cations” for this summer. After traveling abroad, I now realize that I rarely visit my local area, and I need to change that!
Located about an hour away from downtown Los Angeles, Newport Beach is a popular weekend or summer vacation choice for locals, as well as out of state visitors.
Just a few days before we left on holiday, I had the pleasure of spending the weekend at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach. My fellow food and travel blogger, Christina, of Christina’s Cucina, and I attended a Women in Travel Summit in Irvine, which was less than 2 miles from the Fairmont.
When offered the opportunity to stay at the Fairmont Hotel, we jumped at the chance.
When I lived in San Francisco, the Fairmont was the hotel to stay at, and meeting there for a late-night drink was ever so chic!
I recently discovered that the newest addition to the Fairmont collection is the very beautiful and historic Claremont Club & Spa, located in Berkeley. Newport’s location is perfect for so many of Southern California’s activities.
In addition to the usual beach activities, swimming, snorkeling, surfing, sailing and sunning, Newport is located just minutes from Disneyland and Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach is home to several art festivals, including the Pageant of the Masters. If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing something truly spectacular! Newport Beach also has fantastic luxury shopping, dining and easy access to Balboa Island.
Upon our arrival, Christina and I found a lovely tray of artisan cheese and a carafe of honey. What we didn’t know a the time, but found out the next morning, is that the Fairmont has its own beehives, and they use the honey they produce. Seriously, how cool is that? We went and looked at them. The hives sit on the roof of the 3rd floor and can be seen from the hallway near the elevator.
The Fairmont hotel has a commitment to high-quality and attention to detail that impressed both of us.
Christina and I felt pampered by the hotel amenities and attention to details, in everything from the elegant lobby and bar to the comfortable and perfectly appointed room.
That afternoon we toured the grounds and pool area. I regretted not bringing my suit, since the weather, even in late March, was perfect!
There are lots of areas around the lobby and bar to sit, making it either action packed, or quiet and romantic, depending on where you choose to settle.
The food at the Fairmont hotel was amazing!
The next morning, Christina and I had a choice between the breakfast buffet or the a la carte menu.
Christina chose the fabulous buffet, and I opted for my favorite breakfast, Eggs Benedict, which was fabulous! The Hollandaise was silky and light, and the hash browns were a thick cake of potatoes, crispy brown on all sides, but soft and tender on the inside.
A tower of breakfast pastries and house made jams was placed on our table, and even some beautiful chocolate covered strawberries.
We were both impressed by the quality of food. 
Christina sampled nearly everything on the buffet. She was thoroughly impressed with the sausages, and she enjoyed the yogurt with homemade granola and a drizzle of honey! We both are looking forward to visiting other Fairmont properties in the future. The Fairmont, Newport Beach, offers a “20/20” package year-round, giving you 20% off both room and food and beverage.

I love that fire pit!! Fairmonts don’t disappoint!
That’s so cool that they have their own beehive. I’ve never seen a hotel do that before. It looks like the perfect venue for a getaway with great food and fabulous amenities!
The food looks like such a plus at this hotel. I especially like the idea of artisan cheese and housemade honey that you received upon arrival. What a nice touch!
What a gorgeous hotel, Haven,t been to Newport Beach I. Awhile, now the Fairmont is at the top of my bucket list.
Certainly am jealous of that eggs benny you had, I am a sucker for them! Fairmont hotels never disappoint and I always have an amazing stay whenever I visit one. One of my favorites is their property in Acapulco – it’s fabulous!
