Grilled caprese panini sandwiches are a delicious, easy-to-make meal. Mozzarella cheese, basil pesto, and tomatoes are tucked between 2 slices of sourdough, then grilled on a panini press.
We love our panini press. We used to call these fancy Italian sandwiches grilled cheese, but panini sounds so much more continental!
Whether you use a panini press, or grill your sandwich the old fashioned way in a skillet, this grilled sandwich is the perfect comfort food.
Pair it with a bowl or cup of creamy Tomato Soup and you’ve got the perfect lunch.
You can make your own pesto from scratch, or purchase it in the deli section.
I chose mozzarella cheese, but provolone would be delicious too.

Nice post, thanks so much for your sharing
This is one gorgeous pesto panini Cynthia. I don’t have a panini press, but it will still taste yummy off my stove top grill. I love homemade pesto too. This sandwich is perfection.
Yum! Grilled cheese combined with Caprese salad… two of my favorite things! Thanks for the recipe, I can’t wait to make this for my family!
I always end up ordering grilled panini at cafes and when I go out and think to myself, “Why don’t I make these at home?” I even have a panini press! This is one of my favorites, too! Looks delicious!
We love using our panini press at home! But I know what you mean…so many appliances, it’s hard to remember to take them out!
This is SO DELICIOUS and easy! I would stress using full fat mozzarella for that ooey gooey delicioness. We love cheese sandwiches but may never have a different style again as this is addictive with tha pesto.
