Ham And Cheese Sliders Recipe

This ham and cheese sliders recipe is one of the best little sandwiches we’ve eaten in a long time! Thinly sliced ham and Swiss cheese are sandwiched between soft Hawaiian rolls, with hot honey mustard then brushed with melted butter and topped with everything but the bagel seasoning.

While I’ve eaten my share of ham and cheese sliders, this one ingredient changed everything! Hot honey mustard! I’m not usually a trend follower when it comes to food, but when Trader Joe’s introduced their hot honey mustard several months ago, I knew I’d have to make sliders with it!

I first made it with leftover ham from the holidays. (I make a Ham just so we can have leftovers for sliders and Split Pea Soup. These sliders are so good, my usual game day food of Buffalo Wings and White Chicken Chili have been knocked into second place. They also make a perfect party food option or an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients for ham and cheese sliders
Depending on your crowd and the side dishes you are serving, figure 2-3 sliders per person. Plan on 1 ounce of meat and 1/2 ounce of cheese per slider. Here’s what you’ll need:

- Hawaiian sweet rolls
- deli ham
- Swiss cheese
- hot honey mustard
- mayonnaise
- butter
- Everything but the bagel seasoning (A mixture of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, garlic and dried caramelized onions)
How to make this ham and Swiss sliders recipe
(Recipe adapted from Hawaiian sweet rolls website) I’ve made these with leftover ham, which can be quick thick, and deli ham, which can be sliced to order. We like thin sliced, which can be folded and piled a bit higher than thick-sliced ham. I ask for thin-sliced cheese to allow for a layer on both the bottom and top of the ham sliders.

- Slice sweet rolls in half horizontally using a serrated knife.
- Place the bottom half of the rolls in a 13″ x 9″ baking dish
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the bottom buns, followed by a layer of hot honey mustard.

- Place a layer of cheese on the rolls, cutting to fit, if necessary.

- Top with thinly sliced ham and another layer of cheese.

- Add honey mustard to the top half of the rolls.

- In a small bowl, melt butter in microwave.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter.

- Sprinkle with Everything But the Bagel Seasoning

- Cover casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees F. for 15 minutes
- Uncover and bake another 5 minutes until sliders are golden brown and hot.
- Using a sharp knife, cut through the top of the rolls and make individual sliders.

- Store any leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- To reheat, wrap sliders with foil and reheat in oven set to 300 degrees F. just until warmed through.
Substitutions
If you can’t find hot honey mustard in your local grocery store or you don’t have a Trader Joe’s, you can substitute Dijon mustard and honey.
What to serve with ham and cheese sliders
These sliders are a great meal or game day snack. If you’re having a lot of other food, figure 2 sliders per person. If it’s a main meal plan on 3 to 4.
Try this Creamy Cole Slaw on the side or INSIDE the slider for extra crunch!

Nothing beats Classic Potato Salad or Baked Beans as a side dish.
