Honey-Roasted Nuts

Honey roasted nuts are a super easy recipe that can be made in minutes in the microwave. They’re delicious for nibbling, as part of a charcuterie board, cheese platter, or tucked inside a basket as a holiday gift. This honey roasted nut recipe has a hint of cinnamon and orange zest and are low in sugar, which makes them the perfect healthy snack.

Ingredients for honey-roasted nuts:

This recipe calls for pecans, walnuts and almonds, but you can use peanuts, macadamia nuts or even pumpkin seeds.

  • 3 cups total mixed nuts, pecan halves, walnuts and almonds, toasted lightly.
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted.
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon sea salt

How to make honey-roasted nuts:

  • lightly toast the nuts at 350 degrees F. for 10 minutes or until lightly toasted.
  • In a large microwave-safe, large bowl toss nuts, melted butter, honey, orange zest, cinnamon and sea salt until well coated.

  • Microwave nut mixture at full-power for about 7 minutes, stirring half way through heating.
  • Pour mixture on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. 
  • Spread nuts in a single even layer using a silicone spatula or wooden spoon. (Nuts will be hot!)

  • Allow to cool completely at room temperature Break up nut mixture.
  • Store in an airtight container or glass jars.

  • Like spicy nuts? Add a pinch or two of cayenne pepper.
  • Add pumpkin or sunflower seeds to the nut blend.
  • For a vegan friendly recipe swap the butter for coconut oil.

  • The humidity can affect the outcome. A more humid day can mean stickier nuts.
